The Arizona Maha Ganapati Temple is located in Maricopa, Arizona. It is one of several temples serving the Hindu community in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is located about a two-hour drive from Tucson, Arizona. Although Maha Ganapati is the main deity of the temple, there are shrines to other Hindu deities.[2] In addition to daily pujas/services, special services are held to mark important Hindu festivals. In 1999, Sadhguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswamy of Kawai Atheena donated a 1,400-pound, 4-foot-tall Ganesha statue as the murti for a new Hindu temple to be built in Arizona. In November 2000, the Arizona Maha Ganapati Temple was officially recognized as a non-profit, religious organization. In 2002, 15 acres of land in Maricopa were donated to the organization. On August 25, 2007, the foundation stone of the 8,000-square-foot temple was laid. In May 2008, the towers were built and the idols were installed. In 2010, it was decided to install additional idols and build towers, and in 2011, additional idols were installed. In 2012, sculptors were brought in to carve Indian artwork on the interior and exterior of the building. In 2014, the temple was completed with all four towers featuring Indian art.
