New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has clarified that only one candidate named Akanksha Singh secured Rank 301 in the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, following media reports claiming that two candidates with the same name had obtained the same rank.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commission said the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025 were declared on March 6.
“Various media reports have claimed that two candidates with the same name — Akanksha Singh — have secured Rank 301 in the final result. In this regard, it is clarified that as per the records of the Commission, only one candidate with that name has secured Rank 301,” the statement said.
According to UPSC records, the candidate who secured Rank 301 is Ms Akanksha Singh, bearing Roll Number 0856794.
Her father's name is Ranjit Singh and her mother's name is Neelam Singh, the Commission said.
The candidate belongs to Abhaipur village in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, it added.
The clarification comes amid confusion triggered by claims circulating on social media and some media reports regarding the rank secured by candidates with the same name in the examination.
The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination annually to select candidates for services such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Foreign Service, among others.
