Chennai: The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Chennai, on Friday issued detailed guidelines for private candidates appearing for the March/April 2026 Class X public examination, outlining procedures for Science practical training registration and application for the Science theory examination.

Private candidates who had already registered for Science practical training between September 1 and 19, 2025 — including first-time candidates, those who failed earlier, or were absent for the practical exam — have been instructed to visit the designated service (nodal) centres on dates to be notified.

They must submit the acknowledgement slip for practical training registration and apply for the Science theory examination.

Candidates who failed to register for practical training earlier have been given a fresh opportunity from December 22, 2025 to January 7, 2026, excluding Sundays and government holidays.

Such candidates must download the application form from the DGE website, submit two copies in person to the respective District Educational Officer (Secondary) offices by January 7, and pay a registration fee of Rs 125.

Candidates who had undergone practical training in earlier sessions but did not appear for the practical exam must submit the original training certificate at the nodal centre while applying for the theory exam.
Those who have passed either the theory or practical component need to reappear only for the failed part.

The DGE said hall tickets issued for the March/April 2026 examination will be mandatory for appearing in the practical exam. Candidates have been advised to visit the official website for service centre details and contact district education offices for further information.
