Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) on Saturday launched a new website to help teaching job aspirants access their results, as many faced difficulties retrieving them from the old portal, an official said.

The WBSSC had declared the results of the State Level Selection Test (SLST) for assistant teachers in classes 11 and 12 at 9.30 pm on Friday, paving the way for filling 12,514 posts in state-run and state-aided schools.

Following the Supreme Court's April 3 order cancelling 25,753 appointments from the 2016 recruitment, calling the process “vitiated and tainted”, this was the first recruitment exam held on September 14.

Heavy online traffic caused technical glitches, preventing many of the 2.29 lakh candidates from accessing their results. “We have launched a new website — wbsschelpdesk.com — to facilitate access. The old site is also operational,” the official said, urging candidates to log in intermittently.

Candidates who cleared the test will proceed to interviews assessing subject knowledge, communication, and teaching skills. A final merit list will be compiled after document verification.

The commission is yet to determine how many among those disqualified earlier have cleared the new test.
