Puducherry: Prof. S. Siva Sathya, Professor and Dean of the Department of Computer Science and School of Engineering and Technology at Pondicherry University(PU), has been conferred with the National Teachers' Award 2025 for her outstanding contribution to higher education.
With over 25 years of service, Prof. Sathya has played a pivotal role in introducing innovative courses, curriculum design, student mentorship, and implementation of academic reforms. She also serves as the University's Nodal Officer for AICTE, Coordinator of First-Year B.Tech programmes, Ombudsperson for students, and member of the NEP implementation committee.
Congratulating her, Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu said her recognition by the President of India was a “moment of pride and inspiration” for the entire university. He lauded her leadership in advancing research in Artificial Intelligence, her contributions to student mentorship and placements, and her commitment to holistic university growth.
Prof. Sathya's research interests include bio-inspired computing, spatio-temporal mining, and AI in healthcare. In collaboration with JIPMER, she and her students have developed apps for the Cardiology Department, while she also leads Pondicherry University's role in the CARDIAC-India consortium, a Ministry of Education project to establish an AI Centre of Excellence. She additionally serves as a Research Fellow at INTI International University, Malaysia.
