Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU) will host the 11th India International Science Festival (IISF-2025) from December 6 to 9 in Chandigarh.
“This year's IISF focuses on North-West India and explores how science and technology can address regional challenges such as weather prediction, disaster management, and societal development,” said M Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
Speaking at the curtain-raiser event, he said science should be presented in a practical and accessible manner to students. He urged youth to actively participate in the festival and contribute to the vision of “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: For Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
Ravichandran said IISF, the ministry's annual flagship event, aims to promote science, technology, and innovation among youth and inspire them to pursue science as a core discipline driving national development. He added that India is expanding its network of observation systems to improve weather forecasting accuracy.
PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Renu Vig said IISF-2025 will celebrate India's scientific achievements and inspire young researchers to contribute to national progress.
Director of IITM Pune, Suryachandra Rao, detailed the festival's theme and schedule, highlighting its focus on science communication and collaboration.
