Tiruchirappalli: The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T), in collaboration with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), launched a nine-day Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP) on Solar Entrepreneurship.

The programme, sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), aims to promote entrepreneurship and skill-building in the renewable energy sector.

Inaugurating the programme, NIT-T Director Dr G. Aghila highlighted the role of solar energy in India's transition towards a sustainable future and its potential to drive innovation, employment, and inclusive growth. She said the overwhelming response, with over 350 applications received from across Tamil Nadu, reflects growing interest in solar entrepreneurship.

The training, scheduled from November 10 to 19, offers 100% hands-on learning in solar system design, installation, marketing, and after-sales service. Participants will also undertake field visits to solar installations at NIT-T and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

The initiative supports the national missions of Skill India, Start-up India, and Viksit Bharat 2047 by empowering small entrepreneurs and promoting green livelihoods.
