Chennai: The Approval Committee of MEPS Special Economic Zone has cleared eight new projects with a cumulative investment of around Rs 800 crore, expected to create more than 3,500 jobs across Tamil Nadu.
The committee, chaired by C. Arthur Virtuo, Joint Development Commissioner of MEPS SEZ, approved projects in IT/ITES, manufacturing, engineering and logistics sectors, marking a major boost for the state's industrial growth.
Among the key clearances, BMI Global Technologies Pvt. Ltd will expand operations in Sibkat, Sriperumbudur, with an investment of Rs 644 crore, generating 460 additional jobs. VVDN Technologies Pvt. Ltd received approval as a new export-oriented unit in Pollachi, with a Rs 101.6 crore investment set to create 2,300 jobs. Subeno India Pvt. Ltd will invest Rs 4.77 crore in Tidal Park, Elcott SEZ, Coimbatore, to generate 180 jobs.
Significantly, the approvals include a commitment to employ over 25 transgenders, reflecting MEPS's focus on inclusive growth and workforce diversity.
Officials said the latest approvals underline MEPS SEZ's role in driving Tamil Nadu's economic momentum. With these additions, the SEZ has attracted Rs 1,000 crore in investments and created 10,000 jobs in the current financial year 2025-26 alone.
The committee said the projects will not only strengthen the state's industrial ecosystem but also promote equitable opportunities, aligning with Tamil Nadu's broader vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
