New Delhi: Political leaders on Tuesday made remarks on issues ranging from education reforms and election promises to national security and foreign policy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the process of linking India's education sector with the global economy should be accelerated. He stressed the need to focus more on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and automation, adding that the government's goal is to fulfil the aspirations of the people through sustained development initiatives.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of failing to fulfil promises made to women during the Assembly elections. He alleged that schemes such as financial assistance to women and the supply of free cooking gas cylinders have not been implemented and described the government's claims on women's welfare as “political drama”.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav called for a discussion in Parliament on India's foreign policy and national security in view of tensions in the West Asian region. He said the safety of Indians stranded abroad and the country's preparedness to deal with the situation should be addressed by the government.
Yadav also urged the Centre to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities amid the prevailing geopolitical uncertainties.
