Chennai: The Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for admission to diploma programmes offered across polytechnic colleges in the state for the academic year 2025-26.

Admissions are open under various categories including full-time first-year admission, special first-year admission, direct second-year (lateral entry) admission, and part-time admission.

Diploma programmes are offered in 55 government polytechnic colleges, autonomous polytechnic institutions, self-financing polytechnic colleges, and affiliated institutions throughout the state. Key disciplines include Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, and Printing Technology.

For first-year full-time diploma courses, candidates must have passed Class 10 or its equivalent. For lateral entry to the second year, candidates must have either completed the relevant subjects in Class 12 or completed a two-year ITI course. Applicants must be natives of Tamil Nadu and should have completed the last five years of their schooling in the state. There is no upper age limit for admission.

Reservation is provided as per Tamil Nadu government norms for categories such as General, Backward Class (BC), Backward Class Muslim (BCM), Most Backward Class (MBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste-Arundhatiyar (SCA), and Scheduled Tribe (ST). Special reservation is also applicable for wards of ex-servicemen, differently-abled candidates, and eminent sportspersons.
