Ramgarh (Jharkhand): The Ramgarh district administration in Jharkhand has ordered a probe into alleged tampering of computer systems meant for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scheduled on April 2, officials said on Tuesday.

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident, while efforts are on to nab others involved, they said.

The crime came to light after Radha Govind University lodged an FIR at the Ramgarh police station, alleging that some persons had interfered with computer systems at its campus, which is designated as a JEE (Main) examination centre.

Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz said the accused include a computer operator of the university who allegedly attempted to manipulate the systems along with others in the computer laboratory.

“We have ordered a probe led by Sub-Divisional Officer Anurag Kumar Tiwari and asked for an early report,” he said.

According to police, the incident occurred on March 29 when a staff member noticed suspicious activity in the lab. When confronted, the suspects claimed to be technical staff from an authorised agency conducting the exam.

Based on the complaint, police arrested three accused—identified as Dinesh Kumar Mahto, Suraj Kumar Singh and Shakir Ansari—the same evening.

Police said 70 monitors, three CPUs, three mobile phones and a luxury SUV were seized from their possession.

Authorities have informed the National Testing Agency and its technology partner about the incident and sought their assessment on whether the centre remains fit for conducting the examination, officials added.
