Chennai: Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, celebrates its 25th anniversary with the launch of the 'Bharti Airtel Scholarship Program'.

This merit-cum-means-based initiative aims to support students, particularly girls, from diverse socio-economic backgrounds pursuing Technology-based Engineering UG and integrated programs in the top 50 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) colleges, including IIT Madras, NIT Tiruchirappalli, VIT, and Anna University.

Starting in August 2024 with 250 students, the program will expand to 4,000 scholars, with an annual budget of ₹100+ crores. The fully funded scholarships will cover tuition, laptop, and hostel and mess fees for students with annual family incomes below ₹8.5 lakhs. Bharti Scholars will receive 100% of their college fees and a laptop, and are encouraged to support at least one student after graduation.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, highlighted the foundation's impact on over 6 million lives and its commitment to empowering students to achieve academic excellence and economic empowerment.
